Today, India is linked with the whole world despite of its vast size, different languages and socio-cultural diversity. The flourishing trade, from local to international levels has added to the vitality of its economy.

Transport: Goods and services do not move from manufacturers to consumers on their own. For their movement, transport is essential. This movement of goods and services from supply locations to demand location termed as transportation. Transportation helps the traders in bringing goods and services from the producers to the consumers. The pace of development of a country depends upon the production of goods and services as well as their movement . Thus, transportation plays an important role in the economy. The efficient means of transportation is a necessary condition for fast development of a country.

Classification of Transport: Movement of goods and services can be over three important domains of the earth i.e. land, water and air. Based on these transport can also be classified into land, air and water transport.
